Why Netflix’s Tekken Bloodline Anime Is Going To Be Amazing ?

Netflix released it’s teaser for Tekken Bloodline on 20th March, 2022. The anime is going to be based on the popular game series Tekken which was an extremely popular game in the arcade back in the 90’s and early 2000. Recently, Netflix has done well with adaptations such as “Arcane” which is getting it’s second season and “The Witcher” which also has announced it’s third season.

Tekken: Bloodline Anime Story

Tekken-Bloodline 2

So like the other Tekken games Tekken: Bloodline also has the Iron Fist Tournament where Jin Kazama is going to be competing. As per the teaser, we can see that a young Jin is being trained by his mother in martial arts. His mother Jun who is an accomplished fighter herself has distanced herself from the fighting world and is living with her soon in the woods. Then there is an entrance of a demon who attacks their house. After telling her son to leave, the teaser shows Jin searching for his grandfather Heihachi Mishima another legendary fighter in the Tekken world.

As per the teaser info the story is like this:

Power is everything.” Jin Kazama learned the family self-defense arts, Kazama-Style Traditional Martial Arts, from his mother at an early age. Even so, he was powerless when a monstrous evil suddenly appeared, destroying everything dear to him, changing his life forever. Angry at himself for being unable to stop it, Jin vowed revenge and sought absolute power to exact it. His quest will lead to the ultimate battle on a global stage — The King of Iron Fist Tournament.

Tekken Franchise

Unlike other game franchises in the late 90s with sales of over 50 million copies, the Tekken series had only a few attempts at translating the story for movies or TV. Those attempts were able to include a completely memorable 2010 live-action flick best known for being one of 43 films in Rotten Tomatoes to get a zero percent rating based on reviews from critics. At one point, the producer/director of Tekken games, Katsuhiro Harada, tweeted that it was horrible, saying, “We weren’t able to handle that film; it was a cruel contract. I’m not interested in that movie. ”

The conditions surrounding this adaptation may be better, as Harada invited fans to check out the new trailer. If it follows the games, the show will include The King of Iron Fist fighting tournament that includes control of a powerful corporation as its prize, the intergenerational power struggle of the Mishima family that runs the corporation and the tournament, and the supernatural powers/ corruption of the Devil Gene mutation shared by Heihachi Mishima (who also appears in the trailer), his son Kazuya Mishima, and Kazuya’s son Jin Kazama.

Netflix’s Next Big Hit ?

In 2003, a live action flim “Tekken” was released but it failed to impress the fans. The movie had many flaws and also failed to give background on the characters. As Tekken fans we hope that the anime is going to provide a full story arc about all Tekken characters and present in a way how the gamers have loved it so far. There is already massive interest in the Tekken: Bloodline anime even for those who don’t have much idea about the Tekken games. For the teaser, it looks fantastic and hopefully it will be another big success for Netflix after Arcane.
