All of Tom Hank’s children have pursued a career in movies and music, but Elizabeth Ann Hanks, Tom’s only daughter, followed a different creative outlet.
However, as a kid, she tried her hand at acting and appeared in her father’s critically acclaimed 1994 movie Forrest Gump. She starred as the schoolgirl who didn’t allow Forrest to sit next to her on the bus.
Two years later, she appeared briefly in ‘That Thing You Do’.

Eventually, she stopped acting and studied literature at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland for a year. After that, she enrolled at Vassar College in upstate New York and graduated in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in English and literature.
After graduating, she became a writer who now publishes under the name E.A. Hanks, also her name on her Twitter and Instagram accounts.
Elizabeth gained prominence as a writer when top-class magazines like Time and The Guardian published her works.

In 2019, her father opened up to The New York Times about how differently she and her brother Colin were raised compared to her two other half brothers.
“My son and daughter was born when I was very young. But that means we have this gestalt understanding because they remember when their dad was just a guy trying to, you know, make the rent,” said Tom.
He added that his other kids were born after he had “established a beachhead in every way,” and so their lives were not the same.

Elizabeth took to her Instagram and posted a photo of her entire family, accompanied by a message for her father.
“Team Hanks is proud. And I am proud and more than that lucky, to have a father who has taught me to always tell the truth, to move forward, that the hang is the best part of the circus life and that to make art a gift from the gods”, wrote the author.
